Hey, I am Christoph. I am a Cloud Systems Engineer. When I am not deploying AWS infrastructure or doing heavy DIY work around the house, I build small tools. I like tools that solve exactly one problem and just work.
When you understand the math behind 1-in-140-million odds, spending 2 EUR per ticket feels like lighting money on fire. But telling people "the expected value is negative" does not land. Showing them a chart where they lose money for 50 simulated years straight? That lands.
The expected return on a EuroJackpot ticket is about 47 cents per euro spent. Over a lifetime, the average weekly player burns through thousands of euros and gets back less than half. I wanted to make that visible. Not as a lecture, but as an interactive experience.
Built with Astro, TypeScript, Chart.js, and Tailwind. Historical draw data is fetched at build time from official sources, compressed, and embedded as static data. The site rebuilds automatically after each draw day via CI.
Everything runs client-side. No backend, no data collection. Your numbers never leave your browser.
If this tool helps you see the math clearly, you can support the project in two ways.
Option 1: Cover hosting costs. You buy me a virtual coffee. This directly helps with the monthly server bills and keeps development going.
Option 2: Do something truly meaningful. I honestly prefer this option. As a father, projects that help children are very close to my heart. If you like this tool, please consider donating a small amount to Kinderhaus Weimar.
